    • take something in : (옷을 줄이다) <-> let out
    • get these pants (to be) taken in : to be가 생략된 것임
    • I got my hair (to be) cut.
• 뉴욕지사로 전근을 신청했다.
  • I applied for a transfer to the New York branch. (good!!)
  • -> I put in for a transfer to the New York branch.
    • apply for : ~에 지원하다, 신청하다 (apply for a visa)
    • put in for : ~을 청구하다, 요청하다. (put in for a pomotion)
• 나는 그 회사가 개최한 투자 세미나를 참관했다.
  • I visited the investment seminar held by the company.
  • -> I sat in on the investment seminar held by the company.
    • sit in on something : ~에 참석하다. 참관하다. 청강하다.
• 얼마전에 공돈이 조금 생겼다.
  • I got some unexpected money a few days ago.
  • -> I recently came into a bit of (easy) money.
    • come into something : (유산으로) ~을 물려받다.
      • She came into a fortune when her uncle died.
      • come into inheritance (유산을 상속 받다) / come into insurance settlement (보험금을 받다) / come into bonus (보너스를 받다)
    • easy money : 공돈

      • 냄새 : smell, scent, aroma, odor

    • quick 대신 quickly를 써도 되는데 보통 quick을 쓴다.

    • run out : 1. (공급품이) 다 떨어지다. 2. (주장, 서류가) 더 이상 유효하지 않게 되다. 
      • Time is running out for the trapped miners. 갱에 갇힌 광부들에게 시간이 얼마 없다.
      • If a contract or other legal document runs out, it is no longer valid.
    • finish 는 일이 끝나다. end : 기간이 종료되다. 여기서는 차라리 end in December를 쓰면 된다.

    • by : (양 정도를 나타냄)
