부사절의 축약과 관계사절의 축약

관계부사와 의문사에 이은 두 번째 이야기

이런 문장이 있다.

Released from captivity, John went into exile in Great Britain.

(captivity[kptvti] 감금, 구류기간  exile[gzail,ks-] 망명, 국외 추방)

이 문장은 부사절이 축약된걸까? 아니면 관계사절이 축약된걸까?

1) 부사절의 축약이라면

When John was released from captivity, he went into exile in Great Britain.

=> When released from captivity, he went into exile in Great Britain. (주절과 동일한 주어 생략 / Be동사 생략)

=> Released from captivity, John went into exile in Great Britain. (접속사를 복원할 수 있을 때는 접속사 생략 가능)

 

2) 관계사절의 축약이라면

John, who was released from captivity, went to into exile in Great Britain.

=> John, released from captivity, went to into exile in Great Britain. (관계대명사 + be 동사 생략)

=> Released from captivity, John went to into exile in Great Britian. (축약절의 강조를 위해 축약 후 문두로 이동 가능)

결국 하나의 문장을 만드는 방법(문법)은 여러 가지이고, 가장 자연스러운 걸로 받아 들이면 되는건가?
